ServoSPATZ+GM1/GM2 Gun Module

The connection of the ServoSPATZ+ high-tech controller with the gun module in the welding gun and/or welding machine is carried out via the GM-BUS. Servo guns for resistance welding require, due to the applied brushless AC or DC drive motors, transmitter systems for electronic commutation. If the electrode force drive and also the equalisation drive are carried out electrically, two additional signal lines are required besides the two power connections. Apart from the high wiring expenditure, the high number of signal lines presents difficulties, especially if docking systems are used.

For a reduction of the necessary data cables, the gun module ServoSPATZ+GM2 for the ServoSPATZ+ high-tech controller has been developed. This gun module preprocesses, on the one hand, the sensor signals for the welding current, the electrode voltage and, if necessary, for the electrode force and the electrode displacement. On the other hand, the resolver signals of the servo motors are processed and, via the GM-BUS, transmitted to the ServoSPATZ+ high-tech controller, together with the sensor signals. Thus, the required high number of signal lines which is particularly necessary for servo drive operation is minimised, the susceptibility to trouble is reduced.

The gun module which is mounted onto the welding gun allows the application of any parameterised and referenced welding gun directly on any ServoSPATZ+-controller, regardless of the used gun type, drive motor or electrode arm geometry without repeated parameterisation or referencing.

The gun module ServoSPATZ+GM2 is connected with the ServoSPATZ+ high-tech controller via a dockable bus.
